History

The World Poker Tour, commonly abbreviated to WPT, is one of the world’s best and most well known poker tours. Concentrated in North America, although with an increasing number of land-based tournaments held in Europe, the WPT has been steadily growing since its launch in 2002 attracting both top professional players and well-backed amateurs.

In 2009, the WPT was bought by bwin.party – the world’s largest online gambling firm, with shares traded on the London Stock Exchange – and has since then been working hard to increase its online poker presence.

Reputation

Thanks to its standing in the poker industry as a land-based tournament brand along with the expert backing from new owners bwin.party, WPT Poker enjoys a very strong reputation in the online poker world. Their combination of real-world poker experience and online gambling acumen allows players to enjoy a safe, secure and fair game of poker.

Software and Graphics

WPT Poker uses the same hugely popular software as another major online poker site, PartyPoker. This software is often considered the industry standard, thanks to its safety, ease of use and popularity, with over 30 million people having downloaded it. Although this software is rather basic on the graphics front, this delivers a major advantage as it allows players to multi-table easily without worrying about the graphics exerting too much of a strain on their computers.

The software itself is easy to use, quick to install and small. Players can either find a game manually by navigating the various tabs or they can find seats using the search function. By searching the games based on stake, player numbers and what kind of game they want to play, players can quickly either be automatically seated at a table or be shown a list of tables that match their requirements.

Poker Game Varieties

WPT Poker offers a standard array of poker games, including Texas Hold’em in Limit, Pot Limit and the hugely popular No Limit form along with Pot Limit and No Limit Omaha/Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven Card Stud. WPT Poker also offers bwin.party’s innovative Double Hold’em game in Limit, Pot Limit and No Limit formats. In this game, normal Texas Hold’em rules are followed, except for the fact that players are dealt three hole cards and are invited to make two hands.

Sign-up Bonus and Reward Scheme

Despite the high level of brand recognition and major backing, WPT Poker is relatively new to the online poker world. In an effort to rapidly expand their player base, WTP Poker offers some of the best bonuses and rewards on the market. When you sign up to the service you can expect a 100% bonus up to $1,500 and regular promotions where you can win seats in WPT and WSOP tournaments.

WPT Points are also offered to players based on how much they stake and how often they play, with players who collect high numbers of points being eligible for entry into freerolls, high rakeback rates, bonus codes, seats in land-based tournaments and other prizes.
